United Steelworkers of America

United Steelworkers of America

Established as the Steel Workers Organizing Committee (SWOC) in 1936 to coordinate the massive drive to organize the North American steel industry, the organization became the United Steelworkers in 1942. It underwent a 2005 merger with Paper, Allied-Industrial, Chemical and Energy Workers International Union (PACE). It works to improve jobs, build a better future for steelworkers' families and to promote fairness, justice and equality both on the job and in society.
