United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America

Established August 8, 1881 in Chicago as the Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners. Merged in 1888 with the United Order of Carpenters to form the present organization. Absorbed the Wood, Wire and Metal Lathers International Union in 1979. Absorbed the Tile, Marble, Terrazzo, Finishers, Shopworkers & Granite Cutters International Union in 1988. UBC's mission is to stand for signatory contractors and help them succeed in today’s marketplace by supplying them with motivated, knowledgable crews that demonstrate skills, productivity, and a strong work ethic every day.
