Originated in 1905 as the Society of Automobile Engineers, became the Society of Automotive Engineers in 1916, and assumed its current name in 2001. SAE is a network of engineers, business executives, educators and students from more than 80 countries who come together to share information and exchange ideas for advancing the engineering of mobility systems.
