Al Rickard, CAE, is President of Association Vision, a communications and publishing company specializing in the association market. Rickard launched Association Vision in 2000 following a long career as an association executive and has built the company into a respected firm that has helped more than 110 associations expand and improve their communication programs. He has launched 10 magazines and digital publications, created and built several profitable publication advertising programs, and directed many association publishing operations. Rickard has also conducted a dozen communication audits.


Sharon Newport is the Director of Operations for DHI, overseeing membership, communications, strategic planning and operational efficiencies. Her responsibilities include production of their recently rebranded monthly magazine, Door Security + Safety. Sharon is also Vice President of Operations for DHI’s foundation, the Door Security & Safety Foundation, and has been with both organizations for nearly nine years.


John T. Adams III is an experienced consultant in association publishing strategies and works on communication audits and publishing projects for Association Vision. Previously, he was the executive director of Association Media & Publishing, the director of communications at the Nuclear Energy Institute and the vice president of publishing and new media at the Society for Human Resource Management. He also managed publications at the National Association of Counties and the Special Libraries Association. He also was a reporter and editor for newspapers on the East Coast and in the Midwest.


Colby Waller is the Creative Director of Thor Design Studio. He is a graphic designer and creative director with over a dozen years of diverse artistic experience and works with Association Vision on magazine design projects and accounts. His work displays the vision to produce designs both innovative and effective, with a superior command of current print and web technologies. He has wide-ranging skills in design disciplines including magazines and annual reports, identity and collateral materials, web design, documentary film, cartography, and photo illustration.
