Established as National Association of Journalism Directors (1924) became a division of National Education Association (1937); assumed its present name in 1963. JEA mission is to support free and responsible scholastic journalism by providing resources and educational opportunities, by advocating professionalism, by encouraging and rewarding student excellence and teacher achievement, and by supporting an atmosphere. Members are principally secondary school journalism teachers and advisers. Membership: Teacher/Adviser- $65; Lifetime Teacher/Adviser- $650; Emeritus Teacher/Adviser- $30; Associate- $80; College Student- $25; Affiliate- $100; Institution- $100; Additional postage Canada- $15; Additional postage International- $20.
