Shelly Alcorn is a Principal in Alcorn Associates Management Consulting and specializes in non-profit trade associations and professional societies. Shelly stands at the intersection of technology, the education-to-employment system and the association of the future. She conducts strategic, leadership and staff retreats, and speaks on critical issues faced by the association community and society.  She has published numerous articles in trade journals and regularly blogs at the Association Forecast. Other works she has co-authored include: “xPresso Ed - The Association Leadership Series,” “42 Rules for Engaging Members Through Gamification: Unlock the Secrets of Motivation, Community, and Fun,” and white papers including “Associations, Generation Y and Millennials: What You Need to Know About Your Next Generation Members,” and in August of 2016 - “The Association Role in the New Education Paradigm.”

Shelly was formerly the Executive Director of the California Association for the Education of Young Children (CAEYC). Shelly has spent 25 years in association management with such organizations as the California Society of Association Executives (CalSAE), California Automotive Wholesalers' Association (CAWA) and the California Peace Officers' Association (CPOA).  She has extensive experience in board governance, chapter and component relations, government affairs, communications, membership, educational program design, development and instruction.  She holds the CAE (Certified Association Executive) designation from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE).
