Formerly (1905) the Long Island Society of Anesthetists, (1912) New York Society of Anesthetists, incorporated in 1936 as the American Society of Anesthetists, assumed its current name in 1945. ASA's mission is to elevate the standards of the specialty by supporting and encouraging education, research and scientific progress in anesthesiology. Membership: $665 (Active); $335 (Affiliate/Educational); $25 (Resident/Educational Student); $10 (Medical Student).
